ABOUT JASON

Jason's love of music and entertaining began in earnest when he was nine and started violin lessons in the fourth grade. He never needed to be told to practice. Each day after school he disappeared into his room for hours. The beginner's screeching sounds soon turned into beautiful, melodic tones, and his musical talent and abilities continued to grow.

He also practiced other entertainment skills on his family. From around age 12, family members (mom, dad, two brothers and a sister) were all held captive in the upstairs hall while Jason put on a performance of music, magic, card tricks, and juggling. One of the more difficult objects he juggled was eggs — which took some serious convincing of his mother that he wouldn't drop any of the ones removed from the refrigerator. Actually very few eggs were lost in the process — considering the possibilities!

At 18 Jason began learning how to market his talents, to speak up, and to be willing to perform at anytime — even though he had only two songs in his repertoire at the time! While in New York City on his first paying gig for a major US corporation, an opportunity came up during a dinner break at Sardi's. He mustered up the courage to ask the maitre'd if he might be allowed to stroll around the restaurant playing some songs on his violin. He was told that normally this would not be permitted, but sensing the sincerity of this energetic young man, the maitre'd said "yes."

Jason stopped at all the tables playing Ave Maria and Lara's Theme from Dr. Zhivago repeatedly for about 15 minutes. He was a hit! Everyone in Sardi's loved the music, and applauded enthusiatically as Jason left their tables. He even got a few tips. Jason was definitely on his way to becoming a professional entertainer.

A very dedicated and excellent chess player, Jason has participated in many chess tournaments. One of the most fun gigs (combining entertainment and chess) was at The Opryland Hotel in Nashville, TN at a 4-day national chess tournament. Jason had been hired to entertain young people in between their competitive rounds. These students had come from schools all over the United States to compete in tournaments. Jason also conducts chess classes,
